To enter Zytronic in the category "Most Creative / Best use of an Input Device in a Kiosk Application".
Background: The KioskCom Interactive Kiosk Excellence Awards are internationally recognised as one of the most prestigious in the kiosk industry. The awards honour and recognise the best interactive self-service kiosks implemented over the last year.
One of the kiosk projects was the integration of Zytronic's Zytouch touchscreen technology into the Pro-Tech DuraView kiosk - an outdoor, rugged kiosk that allows for self-ordering, self-ticketing and self-service at a variety of businesses ranging from quick service restaurants and convenience stores to transportation terminals. Hard evidence of a working example was requested by the panel of judges.
Strategy: Prepare professional award submission documentation based on the use of Zytronic technology in the Pro Tech kiosk
Tactics: After contacting Pro-Tech and obtaining their permission to enter this award jointly, the next step was to address the awards entry forms and criteria. Each category contained required detailed answers to questions such as:
Entries had to support answers to ALL of the questions in the category being entered - failure to do so could mean zero points for that section. Supporting documents such as pictures and testimonials were also required to support the award entry.
Pinnacle liaised with Pro-Tech and Zytronic and created responses to all questions.
The final document had to be neatly laid out and well-presented. Pinnacle included background information explaining why there is such a need for reliable and robust touchscreens, and technical information about the construction of Zytouch. The document then set about answering the questions posed by the judges. The testimonial was from Peter Kaszycki, president of Pro-Tech and we supplied images of the DuraView kiosk and Zytouch touchscreen technology. An example of a breakdown of ROI, based on a typical QSR was also provided.
Several additional forms had to be completed, signed and returned to the awards organisers, including a permission affidavit, application specification and award specification forms.
Overall, the written document was worth 50 per cent of the score. On the first day of the KioskCom Show, judges visited the stands of the finalists for final hands-on testing of products being submitted, which made up the remaining 50 per cent.
Results: Three weeks before the Show, Zytronic and Pro-Tech received notification that they had been selected as finalists for the awards.
Zytronic and Pro-Tech were pronounced winners of the 'Most Creative / Best use of an Input Device in a Kiosk Application' during the KioskCom awards ceremony on the night of 27th April.
By the 28th, Pinnacle had an 'award-win' press release ready, which was immediately issued to all key US and UK press. Less than a week after the event, we started to see coverage in both the US and the UK. Zytronic also received local press coverage.
