Pinnacle’s founders, Simon Flatt and Lewis Tonkinson, originally met at university where both read electronic engineering. After experiencing a number of different roles they set up the agency in 1996 identifying a gap in the market for companies looking for single agency solution to their pan European technical PR and advertising requirements. The philosophies remain the same today, not least the importance of “Delivering what we said when we said we would”. While this sounds like common sense the majority of agencies fail to achieve this simple objective.
Simon has a BSc (Hons) in electronic engineering and began his career in technical support at NCR, before moving into sales and marketing roles for the company’s Commercial and Government Sales Division. In 1992 he joined technical PR and advertising agency Lesniak Jones Liddell, where he became the company’s PR Director. He also has a diploma in marketing from the CIM.
Lewis also has a BSc (Hons) in electronic engineering and diploma in marketing. He was sponsored through university by Lucas Industries and spent time in their electronics design departments where he was involved in the design of engine management systems before helping to set up a sub-contract electronics division. He then worked for Gould Electronics in their test and measurement division before joining technical PR and advertising agency Lesniak Jones Liddell, where he became the company’s media director.
